Following the great success of the first two editions, the Ascona Music Festival presents its third edition in 2012. It will be presented in concurrence with the international release of the series of 64 CDs, "Daniel Levy - The Voice of the Piano", published by the classical label Edelweiss Emission and the International Academy of Euphony to mark the 25th anniversary of Daniel Levy’s recording career. The presentation of the Series will take place in Ascona, Switzerland in April, in addition to major European and American centres. The Festival will be an echo and harbinger of this production with the same title and spirit. It will include five concerts between 21st April and 12th May, with a special appearance by the pianist Daniel Levy, in a programme structured in three parts.

The programme will feature a masterfully designed cycle of three Piano Recitals in which Daniel Levy will perform, like pearls of a necklace, works by Scarlatti, Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven in the first recital titled "Glorious Counterpoints" (21.04.2012) music by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Brahms in the second recital titled "Infinite Melodies" (05.05.2012); and works by Chopin, Liszt, Grieg, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, in the third recital titled "Chromatic Harmonies"(12.05.2012)

Within the festival an Extraordinary Concert (04.05.2012) will be dedicated to the bicentennial celebration of Richard Wagner’s birth. For this occasion Daniel Levy will perform a repertoire of unpublished original piano works by the great opera composer, and Franz Liszt’s piano transcriptions of scenes from the operas ‘Tristan und Isolde’, ‘Tannhauser’ and ‘Parsifal’.

As a compelling link with the human Voice in its purest song, there will be an evening of Lieder Liederabend (27.04.2012) with the acclaimed soprano  Cristina Mantese who will perform with Daniel Levy. The evening will include lieder of the highest level of poetic and musical beauty by Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

"The Voice of the Piano" is a unique event in the international music scene on an artistic, aesthetic and cultural level, with a broad resonance that is certain to reach all Music lovers.
